Critical purpose of role:
* To Improve manufacturing and process efficiencies
* Continuous improvement and cost savings of all woodworking processes.
Main responsibilities:
* Work with the Site Engineering Manager on plant critical Assessments, life cycle analysis.
* Assist in plant operations contributing towards improving manufacturing and process efficiencies through the use of CI techniques.
* Working Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing techniques, such as Six Sigma, 5s & Kaizen
* Responsible for Time Studies- recording process times accurately, including collating data and issuing standard times for the relevant personnel.
* Future & Budget Manning and Capacity Studies
* Check through Process layouts & process routes to improve efficiency
* Participating in continuous improvement Activities for cost savings and lean manufacturing, including Line/Process Manning levels.
* Increasing Throughput and capacity across lines and equipment
* Improve quality and Right First Time Pass rate & increase yields & reduce waste
* Look into Line/Process Efficiencies, including small loss illumination & reduction in changeover times of processes
* Deliver presentations to Higher and Middle Management
* Set-up Training courses for production/maintenance staff for improving production & maintenance efficiencies
* Help with Maintenance for Root Cause Analysis 8D training and assessments.
* Set-up Statistical Process Control (SPC) on Processes and Line Machines to ensure process operating within the required Parameters & Tolerances.
* Able to communicate across cross functional teams to assist operational & maintenance issues
* Manage Small Multi-skilled Maintenance Team for carrying out checks and support to maintenance
Desired Skills & Knowledge:
* HNC Level education in an Engineering Discipline
* PC Literacy/IT skills
* 4 years Manufacturing Engineering experience within an Engineering Environment
* Creating BOM's & Methods (Route Cards)
* Supporting NPDI introduction
* Implementing Improvements - Cost reductions/ productivity improvements
* Improving product cost of Quality
* KPI's metrics/ measures such as OEE
* Lean tools & Techniques such as 6S/ SMED/ VSM
