A leading medical device company require a number of manufacturing technicians. There are both day and night shifts available. You must have experience of milling machines and worked in regulated industry; medical device, pharmaceuticals, aerospace, automotive.

Roles Available:

X1 Day Shift Technician: Monday - Thursday 08:00 - 16:30, Friday 08:00 - 13:00

X2 Night Shift Technicians: Monday - Wednesday 16:00 - 02:00, Thursday 16:00 - 01:00

20% Shift Allowance on night shift.

Main purpose of role

You will be responsible for the manufacture of orthopaedic implants and associated instrumentation and tooling, to the tolerances specified on either standard or patient specific component drawings using manual and CNC lathes and mills. You will be asked to observe all safety procedures, use appropriate safety equipment and comply with all QA/QC procedures and working instructions.

Key tasks

The job holder will be responsible for undertaking the following tasks:

* Manufacture of orthopaedic implants and associated instrumentation and tooling.
* Working within specified tolerances and engineering standards.
* Using precision measuring equipment in the manufacturing environment.
* Meeting production deadlines.
* Work within safety guidelines and maintain a safe working environment.
* To work well both as an individual, as well as a team member.
* Liaising with design office team to advise and assist on production issues.
* Maintain, adjust, repair and clean workshop equipment and machinery as required.
* To undertake training and development as and where necessary.
* Perform other duties detailed by the Team-Leader -Customs, as and when necessary.

Qualifications, skills and desirable experience

* A time served apprenticeship within the engineering industry is essential. Very good working knowledge of milling machines and centre lathes; both manual and CNC
* Qualified to a BTEC ONC in engineering would be ideal, but a minimum City and Guilds 205 pt2 is required.
* As a team player you should be able to work closely with other colleagues, and be able to contribute ideas and suggestions in a clear and concise manner.
* High levels of self-motivation and the ability to achieve goals along with a willingness to learn are core values required.
* The nature of the business at SIW means that there are quite often strict deadlines that have to be met, the ability to work under pressure and to give that little bit more is also very important
