Our clients offer the following services to the Marine and Tidal industries in the UK:

* Provision of scale and full scale wave and tidal testing

* Consultancy and service provision

* Research

This role is to ensure their electrical systems meet client's requirements, to relevant standards and to deliver power performance assessment of customers technologies.

Your responsibilities will include:

Manage operation of companies electrical systems, working closely with the Electrical Engineer and Contractors, to ensure activities are carried out in a safe and efficient manner.

Provide a testing service for wave and tidal generating devices owned by the companies clients, participating independently in technology design reviews and managing clients' connections to the electrical system.

Ensure availability of all facilities and equipment associated with testing, which includes HV electrical connections and a range of electrical measurement systems.

Work with clients to solve operational problems of an electrical, technical or data-related nature.

Provide performance related data and reports to clients to assist with design and operation of devices and ensure that data and results are collated, processed and archived in a consistent and readily accessible manner.

Ensure that the integrated Management System is adhered to and assist the Quality Manager and others with identifying and progressing improvement actions, supporting accreditation by the UK Accreditation Service (UKAS) or other relevant body.

Ensure that change and configuration management of all HV electrical assets is carried out correctly.

Other functions include:

HV electrical operation and maintenance;

IT support; some data handling and reporting functions; local maintenance and emergency call-out on the Island of Eday (tidal substation location).

Education

All round education Essential - first degree or equivalent in a technical and/or electrical / electronic or a subject related to testing and measurement.

Desirable - specific recognised qualification (academic or vocational) in instrumentation and testing.

Skills & Knowledge Essential - familiarity with HV electrical operations.

Good numeracy and written communication.

Computer literacy and familiarity with IT hardware. Good verbal communicator.

Desirable - specific knowledge of instrumentation and measuring systems. Knowledge of QA systems e.g. ISO 9000 series
