BEP Academy is an Indpendent School for 13 - 16 year olds, providing alternative education for children who have been partly or completely removed from mainstream school (or who are risk of becoming NEET). We are looking to recruit an individual to join our our pastoral team.
The post holder will:
* be based within the centre (currently Basildon or Romford) and on duty on a daily basis
* be first point of call for behavioural and pastoral issues occurring within the centre, specifically classrooms, common room and outside area around the site
* Support tutors with students displaying challenging behaviour within the classroom by applying the BEP student behaviour policy and procedure and using effective behaviour management strategies
* Report any safeguarding concerns immediately to the Child Protection Lead
* Ensure registers are completed accurately, on a daily basis, and returned to the attendance officer
* Attend the morning centre briefing and all team meetings as required to report on new students and any other student issues
* Complete security 'wanding' and searching of students on a planned and/or random basis, when directed by a senior staff colleague or when required by a risk assessment/behaviour plan
* Work with the Centre Manager, tutors and key workers to establish and maintain a reward programme for students
* Work with the Centre Manager to ensure that the 'student voice' programme effective and recorded
* Support the break cover rota and ensure that staff are where they need to be
* Complete incident reports and ensure that tutors complete their sections in the same report
* Ensure that all incidents reports are completed online by the end of the working day and the Centre Manager is informed.
* Prepare for and attend refocusing meetings with students and parents as required and ensure that follow up meetings are booked and diarised and the system updated
* Complete initial assessments with students and update the system. Inform the Exams Officer on completion
* Collect and ensure safe storage of mobile phones from students in the morning and at lunchtime
* Liaise with the Centre Manager on student issues, behaviour and attendance and disengagement
* Ensure that sufficient stock is ordered in a timely manner for student breakfast (toast and squash) and that breakfast is prepared every morning
* Upon arrival ensure that class registers are prepared, and all tutors are supplied with their copies
* Ensure the student communal area is clean and tidy and report any health and safety/maintenance issues to management
