Octavia believes in good homes and better lives. We are expanding our community programme to create better lives for more people.

We are recruiting a project manager with expertise in digital media and experience of working with a wide range of people to deliver good quality creative outputs.

If you are looking for an opportunity to put your talents to use for the common good then you could be just the person we need to manage our new creative project- The Birth of Cool.

Part funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF), the Birth of Cool will explore the sub-cultures of the Kings Road, Chelsea and surrounding areas from the 1950’s to the 1980’s as a melting pot of music and fashion.

The project will provide training in media production to young people at our dedicated digital media-training centre. This includes documentary film-making, editing, sound design, research, photography and oral history.

The project has attracted an impressive range of project partners to help deliver these outputs.

As the project manager, you will be managing the delivery of this project in a charity with a track record in digital media and working with young people.

You will be responsible for overseeing all elements of the project that includes:

  • Recruiting a wide range of young people
  • Arranging training for the young people, including sourcing appropriate trainers
  • Organising the timely delivery of  all the project outputs, e .g. documentary films, events, archiving, website/blog, drama performance, oral histories, digital fashion range and an exhibition
  • Liaising with project partners
  • Working collaboratively with trainers, youth workers, community workers and others to deliver the project outputs
  • Monitoring and evaluation, including reporting to the HLF and other funders
  • Servicing the project steering group

When you join us, you will be part of an amazing team of people who share our drive to be a force for good in the lives of local people and who believe in our values of being Reliable, Responsive and Respectful.
