Technical Director of Projects – Mandarin Speaking (Relocation Opportunity) 
Waterford (with travel to Shanghai)

Part of a leading international group, our client is a successful environmental solutions business that provides soil remediation services. They are now looking for a Technical Director of Projects to join their new division focused on the Chinese market, ideally starting February 2019.

The company is based in Waterford, in Ireland, and, as such, our client is offering a relocation package and (if needed) a bedding in period at their office in Bristol prior to your move. This will coincide with your training period and will mean you can hit the ground running when you arrive in Ireland.

As the Technical Director of Projects, you will ensure the successful delivery of our client’s geo-environmental consulting and remediation projects in Ireland and China.  

In this key role, you’ll work alongside a small team of Geo-Environmental Engineers to carry out a range of technical appraisal work.  

Initially spending around 30% of your time in Shanghai, you will:  

- Appraise and review site investigation data  

- Scope remediation works  
- Develop remediation strategies  
- Assess earthworks volumes and overseeing CAD, LSS and/or 3D volumetrics  
- Effectively manage regulators  
- Liaise with customers to ensure their needs are met 

To be considered, you will need:  

- An engineering background which has involved on-site experience dealing with remediation of brown field sites
- Fluency in Mandarin, in addition to English  
- To be flexible regarding travel  
- A BSc or higher in a geo-environmental, geological or Civil engineering subject  
 

Project management experience would be advantageous, as would any site management experience. 

Self-motivated and adaptable, as the Technical Director of Projects, you will be a confident communicator who can quickly forge strong relationships. Exceptional planning, prioritisation and time-management skills are also key.
