Product Development Engineer
GBP36,000-GBP42,000, 25 Days Holiday, 8 Bank Holidays, 6% Pension Contribution, 4x Life Assurance
The Company
SF Group's Engineering Division in Leicester has an interesting role for a Product Development Engineer. Our client has been established for over 100 years and they operate within the Power Generation Industry and provide a full turnkey solution to customers and are renowned for excellence. They have a global presence and have completed installations in 100's of Countries around the world.
The Product Development Engineer is responsible for all product development activities and product lifecycle management. You will work in conjunction with Sales, Product Applications, Business Development, SCM, Technical Support and Aftermarket in order to deliver cost driven solutions for all products & services offered. You will be involved in devising cost and lead time reduction strategies in order to ensure the company's competitiveness in the market, based on sales and marketing intelligence.
Summary of the role:
Responsible for Product Development activities.
Work closely with Design Engineers and Design Draftsmen.
Provide technical support for the Sales Department.
Develop key cost reduction strategies for our products.
Work with sales to understand key market drivers for our products.
Develop new costing structures and challenge the business to drive down man hours.
Help to define market price for our products within key regions.
Identify and develop partners/packagers/sub-vendors for our equipment.
Technical audits of sub-vendors.
Work closely with Product Applications, Business Development, Technical Support, SCM and Aftermarket to develop steam turbines, gas compressors and other equipment going through the business.
Attend local and international exhibitions if required.
The ideal Product Development Engineer will have:
Extensive experience in design of rotating equipment.
Experience of executing VAVE processes.
Ability to 3D CAD model (SolidWorks) and evaluate (ANSYS FEA) complex components.
Experience in sales, business development of capital equipment in the oil and gas or power generation.
Experience of working with customer's to understand their requirements.
Engineering Degree
Key Accountabilities:
To deliver a very high technical and professional level of service to our customers, with significant focus on safety and quality.
The role encompasses worldwide onsite technical assistance to customer during: overhaul, repair, maintenance, fault finding and installation and commissioning of steam turbines, reciprocating gas compressors and gearboxes. The individual is expected to have expert knowledge in these areas.
To provide a full engineering service support for our customers. To develop and manage exceptional customer relationships through excellence in terms of technical capability and also through personal interaction with customers.
As part of the developing portfolio in the Service Business, it is also required to provide service support to non-company products of a similar nature
