We are looking for someone to work within the Product Design & Implementation team providing support across the whole turnkey project from an Engineering perspective for a confidential client to deliver Gensets to power small scale power stations. This is a mainly office based role with approximately 25% travel within the UK.
This is very much a Project Management role working with; Design Teams, Project Managers, Commissioning Team, Sales Support - so will require a technical knowledge and background BUT need an overriding ability to keep the project on track and to coordinate all those involved in doing so. They will require mechanical and electrical knowledge, with experience of Civils work on site, but it will be the practical application of this that makes the right candidate a success.
We need a great communicator, who can collaboratively push the project forward, offering new ideas and suggestions to the team.
Job Summary
Applies specialized knowledge of engineering principles and practices across various areas.
Supports projects in the identification and understanding of client requirements to develop technical specifications, implement designs, and deliver high performance, low-cost equipment and system results integrated with customers' solutions. Interfaces with sales and marketing teams to design and deliver client solutions. Develops and delivers training on client applications.
Key Responsibilities
* Applies technical expertise on complex components or projects with minimal supervision.
* Leads small projects or portions of large projects.
* Provides technical direction for a project or a project team.
* Participates as a key contributor and is accountable for project success.
* Influences at department or program management level.
* Provides input on program-related decisions.
* Proposes innovative initiatives and projects.
* Demonstrates depth of knowledge of engineering discipline(s) and leverages applications expertise on other projects.
* Troubleshoots complex problems and recommends appropriate actions.
* Assists with the transfer of knowledge; coaches and mentors less experienced engineers.
Education, Licenses, Certifications
College, University, or equivalent degree in Engineering required. Advanced degrees are preferred.
Skills:
Product Knowledge - Knowledge of products and product lines. Able to represent the features and benefits of the products in terms a customer will understand. Knowledge of how the product functions and the technology used.
Cross-Functional Design Review - Able to carry out and coordinate a cross-functional design review at an advanced level and in a wide range of work situations without guidance. Able to train and coach others in developing and applying cross-functional design review on a limited basis.
Product Validation - Includes the ability to install, setup, calibrate, and operate the equipment associated with testing in accordance with standard procedures and customer requirement. Is expected to understand the concepts of rating engines and driven components such as cooling systems, alternators, etc., and be able to use this knowledge to determine the rating of a product under various conditions.
Analyze Issues - Solid understanding of how to analyze issues. Demonstrates use of analysis skills to learn and analyze information in a timely way. Understands complex concepts and problems and identifies how they relate to key processes. Applies accurate logic in solving problems.
Manage Customer Relationships - Uses appointment tracking system, documents call plans, meeting notes and action items. Has established rapport, delivered on commitments, and developed a positive relationship with customers.
Additional Responsibilities:
Project Management: Work with the project management team and project coordinators to deliver to established milestones, generate accurate forecasting, understand project financials, and work collaboratively to ensure we are meeting customer expectations.
Project Engineering: Own all technical aspects of a project from sales handover to commissioning. This includes coordination of a project technical team, AutoCAD drawings for P&ID and Single Line Diagrams, development of technical specifications, cable schedules, interconnection diagrams, etc. and approval of all designs with respect to customer requirements.
Additional Skills:
System Operation & Protection for Low and Medium Voltage Applications - Understanding of all aspects of both low and medium voltage applications.
Lean Burn Natural Gas Generators - Understanding of Lean Burn Natural Gas Generators, their operation, and the ability to design balance of plant equipment such as radiators, heat recovery equipment, exhaust systems, lube oil systems, gas fuel systems, and the packaging of all components, including working knowledge of DSEAR, FMEA, HAZOP/HAZID study requirements etc.
Related Industry Codes and Standards - Understanding of the CE Machinery Directive, Noise Directive, Low Voltage Directive, EMC Directive, Pressure Equipment Directive as well as UK statutory regulations such as the Electricity at Work Regulations, Construction Design and Management (CDM) regulations etc.
