Our client is a small friendly company, based primarily in their modern offices in Guiseley, just minutes from Leeds centre on the train. They have exciting expansion plans, starting with the recruitment of two experienced full-time PHP developers.

They provide web site design services, but specialise in bespoke web development. Their client base ranges from small web designers who need programming services for their clients to large companies and Universities outsourcing their web development to them.

In addition to their programming services, they host clients’ sites on their own Linux servers which they also manage themselves. They also resell many other web and cloud-based services.  Their unique Selling Point is their reputation for excellent quality and support, and this keeps customers returning and they achieve new business by recommendations.

They dress casually in the office except when meeting clients and welcome you to do the same. The work environment is relaxed and comfortable too, however the quality of your work should be of the best standard – well thought out, planned, executed, documented and thoroughly tested. your role...

Your primary role will be to join a small team, undertaking exciting new developments for a prestigious client SmartSearch, who recently won the Queen’s Award for Enterprise in the innovation category for the platform they developed for them. The successful applicant will be instrumental in their future expansion plans, and hopefully more awards!

With the help of the current lead developer, our client would expect you to quickly achieve a good understanding of the current system and begin to work with the client undertake your own developments.  Due to the nature of this position and the clients they work with, you will be required to enter into a non-disclosure agreement immediately upon starting work. 

Mid or Senior PHP Web Developer

Essential Skills

• At least three years commercial programming experience
• Fully proficient in PHP, MySQL and Javascript, jQuery, Bootstrap
• Excellent knowledge of Angular
• Experience of OO and MVC techniques as well as procedural
• Good written and verbal communication skills and good standard of English
• Good attention to detail, able to produce accurate work
• Proven abilities with responsive front-end web technologies
• Understand cross-browser issues and workarounds
• Comfortable working both autonomously and as part of a team
• Have a demonstrable passion for programming and web development
• Have a desire to keep up to date with technology changes
• Appreciation of requirements of working with very large datasets

Desirable Skills

A working knowledge of the following items is desirable

• Knowledge of Zend Framework would be advantageous
• Third party APIs (e.g. Google, Facebook, SagePay, Worldpay etc.)
• Work with E-Commerce and CMS Platforms, their themes and plugins.
• Mobile development using ionic framework.
• Experience with Linux and Apache

The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing and maintaining online applications for clients. You may be required to work with clients to determine the best solution, taking time and budgets into consideration.

Your work will be neat and well documented, whilst being efficient and accurate. You will devote appropriate time to testing and deliver a quality solution every time.
