School Catering Assistant
Randstad Education require a School Catering Assistant to support in our clients busy primary and secondary schools on a part-time temporary basis.
We are currently recruiting for School Catering Assistants to work in the busy kitchens of our primary and secondary Local Authority schools. As s successful applicant, you will have:
- Previous experience of working in a kitchen which can be fully referenced
- Level 2 Certificate in Food Hygiene or other relevant qualification
- Excellent communication and organisation skills
- A strong work ethic, the ability to work as part of a busy team of kitchen staff, and a professional attitude
The role is term-time only and consists of part-time hours around dinner breaks from 11am to 2.30pm. These roles are temporary in the first instance but could be made permanent for the the right candidate. This is a great opportunity to work in a busy school kitchen as part of a committed team with a great reputation, offering an essential service to staff and pupils. Responsibilities could include:-
- Preparation of the kitchen and dining areas, keeping them hygienic and tidy, helping to minimise risk of accidents and waste
- Basic food preparation and simple cooking
- Assisting the chefs / Head Cook / catering or kitchen management as directed
- Serving children and school staff
- Working a till
- Pot washing and cleaning floors and surfaces after lunchtime has finished
- Correct and safe storage of all kitchen items
- Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation at all times such as the Food Safety Act, and Health and Safety at Work Act
