Our client is a leading UK-focussed downstream energy company whose main asset is their Manufacturing Complex, one of the most advanced refineries in Europe and situated close to the major cities of Liverpool and Manchester. Their Manufacturing Complex is a key strategic national asset, annually producing over 16% of the UK’s road transport fuels, while playing an important part in Britain’s petrochemical industry by providing key feedstocks.
The business is a major supplier in the North West and beyond with customers including most of the major retail brands operated by international oil companies and supermarkets, Manchester Airport, leading commercial airlines and the region’s trains and buses.
The business covers crude and product trading, refinery operations, HSE implementation, maintenance support and technological services, together with marketing and retail activities. Our client currently has an exciting opportunity for an Inspection and Integrity Manager to join their Manufacturing Leadership Team. Heading up a large team of staff and contractors, the role is accountable for managing the inspection, ongoing integrity and technical support of static equipment and assets to meet statutory, HSE and business requirements. The role leads and continuously improves the inspection and integrity management strategy for the Manufacturing Complex, including provision of these services for new construction projects, turnarounds and cross country pipelines. The role holds budget responsibility for inspection and integrity projects, and has direct influence on site annual maintenance spend.
Other responsibilities include ensuring sustained technical integrity of pressure equipment installed at the Manufacturing Complex, to attain and maintain ’world class‘ status by providing direct and hands-on specialist integrity advice and service to operational, project and maintenance related issues, in compliance with governmental, company and local standards and regulations.
Our ideal candidate should be a Chartered Engineer or equivalent. You will have extensive experience of equipment inspection and integrity management in oil refineries or petrochemical plants and a wide knowledge of mechanical equipment. You will be able to understand legislation and codes of practice, and translate them into realistic processes and systems. A deep appreciation of inspection, materials and corrosion, quality systems, projects, maintenance and non-mechanical engineering disciplines is required, along with a good understanding of the concepts of risk and reliability management.
You will be able to engage stakeholders and champion equipment integrity throughout the site organisation. In addition to technical knowledge, you will have demonstrable experience of leading a professional engineering team in a highly competitive industry, and delivering a fit for purpose strategy that is commercially viable. You will be used to making complex decisions and have the experience of delivering under time pressure with conflicting priorities. You will be experienced in communicating across all levels in an organisation.

Fully supporting key transformation programmes with a focus on asset integrity, operational availability and maintenance costs
Ensuring the management of integrity and inspection activities and resources remain fully integrated with the broader business processes and are legally compliant
Continually improving the efficiency of integrity and inspection contracts
High ability to work and deliver under time pressure, such as plan prep and Turnaround execution.
