Our client who are based in Oxford are looking to recruit a Technical Product Typetest Engineer.
The Person
* A HND/HNC level Engineer or higher with experience and knowledge of transformers from either a design or manufacturing background
* Understanding of AC power & Transformer theory.
* Very good verbal and written English to communicate ideas with staff globally (UK, US, PH).
* Highly numerate in understanding, analysing and presenting test data.
* Able to communicate easily, with enthusiasm, by telephone as well as email.
* Able to participate in identifying future improvements and additional functionality to the products, both hardware and software.
Essential Word / Excel.
Desirable SQL / MS ACCESS, also some experience of VB or .NET or orC / C# for
automating processes.
Responsibilities
* Comprehensively testing any change in firmware, software or hardware across the range of company products.
* Documenting full details about any issues discovered during the testing when they occurred and what equipment devices were being used for the test.
* Investigation and improvements to existing Typetest systems.
* Designing and documenting new type test systems.
Basic day to day activities
* Use of LCR meters, DMM (eg HP4284, E4980AL , HP3458A) to measure a variety of parameters DCR , LS, RLS, Q, D, TR, LL on a variety of transformers then to compare reading to our products.
* Checking the real test results to independent LCR readings and comparing to the published spec of the unit.
* Repeated testing over time, logging results and then to check for stability and accuracy over time.
* Testing company software used with the products to confirm that the results are saved correctly and that the software works as expected
