Our client is recruiting for a Public Relations Officer to join their business on an initial 3 month contract, in Bristol.
The Successful Public Relations Officer will deliver a full range of public relations support and services including strategies, reputation management, media relations and stakeholder management
The Role
We're looking for a full time Public Relations Officer with experience in PR and/or journalism, excellent judgement, great writing skills, tenacity and loads of energy and enthusiasm. (Would consider 4 days if nec)
We're setting up a newsdesk system to triage, process and respond to all media requests, so that others on the PR team can plan and deliver creative communication strategies - getting organisations message, ambitions and achievements out there, whilst 2 people on the newsdesk look after reactive enquiries and help manage the council's reputation - with input and guidance from a passionate, highly experienced team of PR professionals.
The Person
Skills / Experience
* Someone with PR/communications experience - including handling media enquiries and working with journalists and senior managers/leaders; drafting press releases, statements and social media content. Or someone looking to make the switch from journalism to PR.
Attributes
* Excellent writing skills; sound judgement and strong political awareness / sensitivity; and high level of resilience.
* Someone with public sector/local government experience would be extremely desirable
