Due to continued business growth, we're working with a third-generation family farm as they seek an Assistant Farm Manager to join their team. The business has traditionally been an arable and potato farm but they are now diversifying into horticultural crops including sweet corn, pumpkins, courgettes and asparagus.
As Assistant Farm Manager, you'll be involved in a variety of different tasks both in the field and the office. You'll be involved in:
The organisation of 3/5 tractor drivers for an 850ha holding.
Organising harvesting of sweet corn, pumpkins, courgettes and asparagus.
Organising / overseeing the packing line for asparagus.
Helping out / supporting the arable and potato growing & harvesting.
Taking control of the administration of the accommodation & crop compliance.
This is a really good opportunity for proactive individuals who wish to take that next step into an Assistant Manager role. Experience and skills you will need include:
Experience of working on a busy vegetable farm.
The ability to use your own initiative.
Have some experience of managing a team, for example a harvesting team or team of pickers.
A flexible approach to work as you will be required to work long hours during busy periods.
