Are you a proactive, efficient and influential individual who is passionate about making a difference to disadvantaged people? If so, St Giles Trust has a career-enhancing opportunity for a Trainer Assessor to work on our award-winning Peer Advisor Programme: Peer Forward.

About St Giles Trust

A well-established charity that helps ex-offenders and disadvantaged people to move their lives forward, St. Giles Trust offers support to help people overcome any issues that might be holding them back and to prevent the likelihood of them reoffending on release.

At the heart of St Giles Trust's crucial work is our Lottery-funded Peer Forward Programme. This innovative programme has been designed to make a significant contribution to tackling poverty and social exclusion by training disadvantaged people and ex-offenders to become professional caseworkers and provide high quality peer support that can improve people's life chances in deprived areas. Plus, our caseworkers will also gain accredited qualifications such as a Level 3 in Advice and Guidance.

About this vital role

Our successful candidate will focus on identifying, engaging with and recruiting learners with the relevant skills and motivation. You will interview and assess applicants to form an individual earning plan, before delivering tailored training programmes that will lead to a Level 3 Certificate in Advice and Guidance.

You will also support learners to secure voluntary placements and perform effectively, plus prepare and help learners to progress into permanent employment. Carrying out regular reviews, exit interviews and evaluations with learners and other stakeholders, as well as maintaining and updating all records required for project monitoring purposes, are also key elements of this role.

To secure this exciting opportunity, you must have:

  • A proven track record of sourcing and supporting participants to access employment, training, personal development opportunities and other specialist support (housing, substance misuse, mental health)
  • Strong experience of successfully supporting disadvantaged people into sustainable employment
  • The ability to apply a creative approach to planning programmes and activities that support the development of those already in work to improve their circumstances and employment situation
  • A background of career coaching and a sound understanding of career adaptability
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational abilities, plus impressive attention to detail
  • Sympathy with the aims and ethos of St Giles Trust as an organisation

In return, you can expect a competitive salary, generous leave allowance, staff pension, flexible working, a mentoring programme, an advice and counselling service, childcare vouchers, season ticket loan and much more.
