Project Manager- Rail
RSSB is an expert body that helps the rail industry collaborate to continuously improve and meet future challenges. It spans the whole railway, including in its membership infrastructure companies, train and freight operators, rolling stock owners and suppliers to the industry. RSSB supports rail in the areas of safety, standards, knowledge, innovation and a wide range of cross-industry schemes.
RSSB is seeking a talented and enthusiastic individual to join our Standards and Safety Portfolio being part of the larger Projects Directorate. You'll have an opportunity to make the most of your expertise in this fast-paced industry with people who share your passion.
The purpose of the role is to provide effective and efficient project management for rail industry initiated projects, including the delivery of research, standards, rules and national publications. The role may also have the opportunity to lead other industry support projects, particularly in the areas of safety, health and wellbeing, or internal business change projects to support RSSB strategic objectives.
Responsibilities
- Lead and motivate project teams of technical, operational and human factor specialists, decision support specialists and risk analysts to plan and deliver projects successfully within agreed quality, cost and time constraints.
- Work closely with internal and industry stakeholders to gain input, support and approval to deliver projects that meet industry needs.
- Mentor more junior project managers/assistants in best practice project management.
- Experience and knowledge of project management principles and practices, including project scheduling, resource planning, budgeting and cost management.
- Experience in managing the successful delivery of projects to agreed time, cost and quality constraints.
- Good project leadership skills - initiates actions, gives direction and takes responsibility.
