To teach Level 4 students.

Teaching

  1. Gain a full understanding of teaching role and the wider professional roles and responsibilities as specified in Bucks College Group's Professional Standards booklet. Take accountability and ownership for own role.
  2. Plan and deliver high quality teaching in the subject areas required, using up to date vocational knowledge and expertise to ensure the curriculum delivered develops students' employability, life and learning skills.
  3. Plan and deliver high quality teaching with due recognition of the relevant syllabus and course specifications, given the resources available and within the agreed and approved timetable. Teach up to required levels on identified courses.
  4. Plan and deliver highly effective learning programmes for diverse groups or individuals in a safe and inclusive environment, whilst also ensuring students are stretched and challenged to reach their full potential.
  5. Value and promote social and cultural diversity, equality of opportunity and inclusion and be a positive role model for others.
  6. Satisfy the administrative requirements of the College and examining/validating bodies; including internal verification requirements.
  7. Apply appropriate and fair methods of assessment to students to support progression and achievement.
  8. Promptly provide high quality feedback to students. Ensuring that all marking, assessments and moderation that has been completed in a timely manner is recorded and tracked appropriately.
  9. Build positive and collaborative relationships with colleagues and students. Liaise with other staff as appropriate to ensure that work is fully and effectively covered.
  10. Direct Learning Support Assistant or technician in the teaching situation as required and where appropriate.
  11. Address the English and Mathematics needs of students and work creatively to overcome individual barriers to learning, both within and outside of the classroom.
  12. Regularly reflect upon own practice and the impact this has on students' learning; adopting creative and innovative approaches to teaching that support access to learning for all.
  13. Use reflection, and feedback from others, to regularly take part in continuous professional development which develops own skills and knowledge of pedagogy and subject specialism.
  14. Apply theoretical understanding of effective practice in teaching, learning and assessment drawing on research and other evidence.
  15. Evaluate and challenge own practice, values and beliefs to meet the diverse needs of students.

Curriculum Development

  1. Maintain and update knowledge of your subject and/or vocational area.
  2. Keep abreast of developments within own areas of expertise and keep teaching material up to date to reflect current industry requirements and the requirements of examining/validating bodies.
  3. Maintain and update teaching and training expertise and vocational skills through collaboration with employers.
  4. Undertake training as may be required and requested to maintain subject currency.
  5. Maintain and update knowledge of educational research to develop evidence based practice.
  6. Be a member of relevant course teams and participate fully in their activities.
  7. Participate in course and curriculum monitoring, reviews and evaluations.
  8. Take an active and positive role as a team member of both team and cross-college teams as and when directed.
  9. Act as a Course (Programme) Leader when required.
  10. Contribute to new developments as appropriate participating in the development of course materials to meet the needs of new courses or changes to existing courses.
  11. Assist in the development of workshop facilities to meet the requirements of existing and proposed courses.

Administration

  1. Ensure records of student achievements are maintained as required by the sector and relevant external bodies.
  2. Keep accurate and up to date registers of classes taught, of student attendances, lateness and marks.
  3. Advise the Curriculum Manager on material and equipment needs, from the revenue budget, for existing and proposed courses and produce requisitions as required.
  4. Assist with student interviews and course enrolments.
  5. Work within the team in liaising with local schools, employers and industry to identify their training requirements and promote the work of the College
