Job Purpose/Summary:

• To check and report results in the form of Expert Reports and Certificates of Analysis are written to the required standards and within agreed timescales.
• Assist in addressing and resolving Customer queries by letter, telephone and e-mail etc.
• Ensure sample reporting is undertaken to the required standards, the company's quality management system is applied and the requirements of ISO 17025 are met.
• Ensure sample turn round times are kept to a minimum.

Duties and Responsibilities "what you have to do":

• Ensure that accurate Expert Reports are prepared and completed to agreed standards and timescales and issue Certificates of Analysis where necessary.
• Ensure that the reporting of results is undertaken in accordance with SOP's and the requirements of ISO17025 section 5.10.
• Actively work towards improving quality and customer service, at all times.
• Make presentations of results and interpretations of findings to Courts of Law, as required.
• Keep up to date with advances in hair drug and alcohol testing field.
• Ensure Lab SOPs are maintained and reflect current practice and are in accordance with the requirements of ISO17025:2005.
• Ensure that all non-conformities are identified and addressed effectively in a timely manner, and that adequate records and corrective/preventative measures are maintained. This must be undertaken in accordance with the company's SOPs and the requirements of ISO17025:2005.
• Ensure that the analyses of samples within the laboratory are undertaken in accordance with the company's SOPs, which must meet any relevant technical requirement of ISO17025:2005.
• Ensure that the reporting of results is undertaken in accordance with the company's SOP's and the requirements of ISO17025 section 5.10.
• Where appropriate provide training and supervision to ensure analysts/technicians follow SOPs and achieve company standards.
• Respect the confidentiality of the information obtained in the course of analysing samples within the lab, and refrain from disclosing such information without written consent, except where disclosure is required by law or by a court order.
• To undertake any other reasonable duty, when requested to do so by an appropriate manager.
• Demonstrate on going competency against training plans and participate positively in CPD (continuous professional development) activities

Safety:
• To observe safety regulations and attend mandatory fire, manual handling and other courses as required
• Report all incidents and adverse events to managers and assist in the investigations of any incidents
• Participate in risk assessment monitoring
• To ensure that the equipment within area of work is maintained and operated as per SOP's
• To comply with SYNLAB policy for annual mandatory updates and have knowledge of COSHH and Lifting and Handling Policies

Knowledge, skills, attributes and experience:

Essential
• A degree in a relevant area
• Attention to detail
• Good communication and presenting skills
• Articulate

Desirable
• Previous knowledge of analytical / toxicological analysis
• Previous knowledge of hair testing
• Good IT skills
• CRM knowledge
