Programme Quality Engineer (LR08)

Location: Glasgow

This is an exciting opportunity to work within our Land and Air Systems (LAS) Optronics and Missile Electronics business unit as part of a dedicated team of quality professionals. This role involves working within a multi-discipline team to manage and deliver all aspects of quality management required by Thales to meet the requirements of both internal and external customers - focussing initially on programme quality assurance within bids & projects.

The successful candidate will be confident in building trustful relationships with key customers and suppliers, working across organisational boundaries both external and internal to Thales. This role would be ideal for a self-motivated quality professional who is committed to driving forward change and is passionate about continuous business improvement.

Thales' expert teams develop solutions that provide sophisticated real-time intelligence for soldiers in the field. From horizon-to-horizon airborne reconnaissance to technology that captures and relays over nine million pixels every second, our products include some of the most advanced reconnaissance systems in the world. So whether our people are developing next-generation infrared and thermal imaging, liaising with global customers or providing essential business support, they play a key role in information and enabling critical decisions.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities:

  • Lead the project quality assurance activities to bring solutions in line with customer expectations, contractual requirements, and quality standards
  • Ensure governance is applied throughout the project, completing project advises and supporting project reviews
  • Encourage and develop best practice, promoting a quality culture and environment of continuous improvement
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve working methods
  • Audit processes as appropriate
  • Capable of working on own initiative, evaluating priorities, identifying problems and acting to resolve them
  • Provide input to work package estimates for quality

Skills, Experience and Qualifications:

  • Well developed communication skills both orally and written
  • Capability to work closely with others in a cross functional team
  • Knowledge of Lean/Sigma principles would be an advantage
  • Understanding and demonstrable knowledge of quality management principles
  • Experience of deploying quality management principles
  • Specialised knowledge of engineering disciplines would be an advantage
  • Experience within the transfer of technology is highly desirable
