Our Dalbeattie site in Kirkcudbrightshire is a 56 hectare site, employing around 150 staff and has an annual capacity of more than 300,000 m3 of sawn timber. Right now we have a great job opportunity here for a Planning and Compliance Engineer.

The job opportunity:
Based at this modern sawmilling facility, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring that the engineering team operate a robust and prioritised work plan to routinely maintain site equipment as well as react to issues that have arisen during timber production. Your remit will also include making sure site compliance checks are planned, completed and followed up as required/dictated.
Specifically, this will involve:
- Scheduling a weekly preventative maintenance plan, as well as longer term engineering project plans as required by the business
- Liaising with colleagues at all levels, as well as key suppliers and contractors, to ensure we’re prioritising effectively and carrying out work to an agreed budget and specifications
- Undertaking risk assessments
- Acting as a lead engineer on high priority assignments
About you:
As a time-served electrical or mechanical maintenance engineer with fantastic organisation skills, you’ll be someone who is quickly able to build rapport with suppliers and colleagues in order to motivate and create successful outcomes. As you can imagine, production schedules within this site can be tight so you’ll need to able to work effectively under pressure as well. In addition, you’ll have up-to-date H&S knowledge; be able to demonstrate good written and verbal communication skills; and have the foresight to plan and manage schedules according to the needs of the business.
