MOJ Fee Earner

Purpose

The MOJ Fee Earner will handle their own case load of approx. 150 MOJ stage 3 and Part 8 Infant Approval files. They will perform specific delegated tasks within a supervised environment to pursue settlement of a file as soon as practically possible, ensuring client Guidelines are adhered to.

Working in an in-house team this is an excellent opportunity to provide direct legal services and advice to the client. You will work within a team of legal professionals who handle cases up to GBP125K in value. A full career path is available for the right individual.

Key Accountabilities / Responsibilities

  • The FE will take on a wide range of delegated tasks over time

  • The FE will be set a settlement and billing target per month, which the FE will be expected to achieve. These targets will go towards the teams overall monthly target and the business units targets

  • Whilst working within a supervised environment, the FE will be responsible for organising and prioritising their own work load on a daily basis, ensuring that a satisfactory level of quality and performance is achieved to ensure effective client service

The responsibilities of the FE will vary depending upon their stage of development

Recruitment Criteria - Ideal opportunity for someone who can demonstrate knowledge / experience of the MOJ process either through handling own caseload or assisting others.

  • Established interest in law either through further education or experience within a process driven legal environment

  • Ideally experience of MOJ stage 1/2/3, not essential to have experience of all 3 but knowledge of would be highly advantageous

  • Ability to plan and prioritise workloads

  • Efficient in a process driven environment

  • Drive to achieve to take development opportunities when they arise with a positive attitude

  • Calm under pressure with the ability to re-prioritise and delegate effectively when required

  • Confident with ability to take initiative to innovate and adapt to changing situations

  • Good team worker with the flexibility to do what is required to get a result and ensure client service levels are met

  • Good understanding of VF and associated IT packages

  • Work effectively within the Keoghs Shared Behaviour framework

  • Confidence to seek advice and guidance when dealing with new tasks

  • Excellent listening and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to follow instruction with attention to detail

  • Ability to recognise when sensitivity and tact are required
