Sacco Mann has been instructed on a fantastic opportunity by one of our clients who is looking for a Costs Draftsman to join their successful, global law firm. The role will be based in the firm's Sheffield office in the liability and insurance division. The team acts for a wide variety of clients ranging from large insurers to local authorities and large corporate self-insured companies, and this is an excellent opportunity for the right candidate to join a well established and expanding firm.

The role:
As a Costs Draftsman based in Sheffield, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:
Providing costs advice on negotiating and the recovery of personal injury and general costs insurance matters;
Managing all aspects of costs work from start to finish, negotiate and settle PI costs and prepare cost schedules;
Drafting Schedules, negotiating and settling;
Preparing statement of costs for cases proceeding to allocation or Trial to effectively manage the costs of progressing cases;
Preparing costs on an indemnity basis;
Ensuring settlements are properly concluded with no outstanding issues;
Telephone negotiations;
Challenging opponents' costs.
In a busy and demanding environment, you will be expected to work in a clear and concise manner, exhibiting excellent negotiation skills and the ability to draft correspondence, legal argument and Points of Dispute amongst other things.

The candidate:
The successful candidate will be an experienced Costs Draftsman and will be able to demonstrate relevant experience, good technical and drafting skills, a sound knowledge of the CPR and all other relevant case law. They should be proficient in analysing complex information with clarity and be able to prepare and draft costs proceedings and cost budgets, negotiate, bill drafting and have an extensive existing knowledge of the legal industry. The ability to liaise with key stakeholders, both internally and externally, is also of the upmost importance for this role, as is coaching other, less experienced team members to progress their skills and career.
