About the role:

This post will be Joseph Rowntree Foundation's (JRF) leading housing expert, working with partners to develop solutions that work towards one of our key outcomes; more people to live in a decent affordable home.

Millions of people are locked in poverty in the UK, we don't believe that's right. That's why we've made it our mission to solve it. JRF's new strategy is to work alongside others to build public and political will for change and demand for solutions. We will develop those credible solutions with those who have the power to effect change, and we'll hold governments and others to account for their impact on people locked in poverty. This role is a critical part of delivering that mission and strategy.

JRF works alongside the Joseph Rowntree Housing Trust (JRHT), whose mission is to develop strong, empowered communities, based in Yorkshire and the North East.

In this role, you'll work across a range of a talented teams in both organisations and directly with those that can make a difference.

About you:

You will be passionate about our aims and outcomes and have proven experience of working alongside a wide range of stakeholders and partners.

You will have significant expertise in housing policy and practice and you'll be confident in formulating policy positions and housing solutions.

You will have exemplary communication skills, a high degree of credibility and be experienced in communicating complex information to a variety of audiences, powerfully and persuasively.

You will have exceptional understanding of the stakeholder, policy and political landscape across the housing field, and knowledge of UK government and devolved administrations, as well as sub-national and local government.

You will be skilled in interpreting the potential impact of policy developments on people and places affected by poverty.

About us:

Joseph Rowntree Foundation is a social change organisation with a 100-year history. We're built on trust, show we care, and exist to make a difference.

We work with others to put forward sector-leading research, evidence, solutions and stories to the UK's influencers and decision makers.

We believe that a prosperous poverty-free UK is within reach, we just need more people to believe it too.

To make our vision a reality we need talent, ideas, skills and passion, plus we need to change some of what we do and how we do it too. So, we're embarking on a significant period of change. Change that will see us become an outcome focused organisation that embraces new ways of working and modern practices.

If you share our passion, then we need to hear from you.
