Insurance Claims Handler/Analyst - 12-month GBP15.87 - GBP20.54 per hour

Description of role

The Scottish Ambulance Service is looking to award a contract for the provision of a Claims Handler/Analyst.

The post is to manage and co-ordinate the claims handling and reporting functions for the Service's accident, insurance and claims management operations. Ensuring accuracy of information and provide specialist analysis of data identifying trends, reducing risk to staff, public and property and ensuring full and effective recoveries and best value.

The post holder must work under their own initiative, using independent judgment in dealing with sensitive issues, which are often confidential.

Essential skills

  • The Claims Handler & Administrator is expected to work on their own initiative and use independent judgment in dealing with the duties of the post.
  • Work is managed and guided by the Finance & Logistics Directorate, but the post holder must prioritise workload to react to changing priorities.
  • Must show discretion and be able to maintain confidentiality.
  • The post holder is expected to deal with problems that arise using their knowledge, skills, experience and networking ability, organising members of staff to gather data and collate as necessary to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Expected to propose changes to working practices and procedures and to plan, develop and implement new procedures relating to specific administrative processes.

Desirable Skills

  • Direct motor and personal injury claims management experience
  • Experience of working with a large vehicle fleet, ideally in the Public Sector
  • Experience of planning and implementing process & procedure at multiple national locations.

Candidates must have full clean driving license.
