Mechanical Multi-Skilled Technician

Haslar (Gosport)

Initial Contract until 31st March

GBP - Negotiable rates

My client someone who can turn their hand to almost anything manufacturing related - one day you might be asked to assemble bought in items to form a simple assembly in short timescales; through to manufacturing complex, bespoke piece parts. this will at times require you to be willing to take on new skills through training and oversight.
You will be an adaptable and flexible individual with the capability of working autonomously and as part of a team. You will be a strong communicator, self-motivated, with the ability to plan and organise your own work. You will be an excellent problem solver.
The work involves manufacturing bespoke parts for large scale, accurate boat models as well as assembling COTS parts for rigs, frames, and bespoke model boat builds

Knowledge, Skills and Personal Qualities Required

- The successful applicant will ideally have a recognised Apprenticeship/Training in a mechanical trade.
- A related educational or professional qualification ie C&G/ONC/HNC Mechanical Engineering or similar approved qualification.
- An experienced technician with a proven track record in Manufacturing High quality, low Quantity items would be an advantage, particularly if from a highly regulated industry such as aerospace/space/medical/nuclear; though not a pre-requisite.

Comfortable reading Technical Drawings plus experience with a wide range of workshop equipment associated with metal forming is ideal, eg

Sheet metal forming - ie Bending, stretching, shrinking, riveting etc.
Welding (gas, mig, tig etc.)
Manual milling & turning
Manual drilling

Experience using a wide variety of materials would be of benefit - GRP, Engineering plastic, High grade metals (Aerospace, Marine etc.)
