A well established business based in Amersham (commutable from High Wycombe, Watford, St Albans, Luton, Stevenage, Aylesbury, Reading, Slough) are currently seeking a Management Accountant to join their busy finance department.

This role sits within the FP&A role and will involve a lot of reconciliations work.

The main responsibilities of the role are:

  • Responsibility for the timely production of accurate and transparent management accounts for the trading divisions as well as the support centre.
  • Analyse and investigate financial information and queries which will frequently be complex in respect of expenditure trends and budget variances.
  • Proactive management of budgets through regular meetings with key stakeholders including site managers, Business Managers and Directors.
  • Be the first point of contact for all divisional queries and to attend meetings as required to support business operations.
  • Monitor and present financial information.
  • Oversight of both revenue and cost recognition within the group in-line with both customer and supplier agreements.
  • Assist with the production of month-end board pack.
  • Have a thorough understanding of the trading activities of the group including revenue and cost drivers.
  • Provide management oversight of the weekly KPI gross margin reporting process.
  • Assist with the annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting cycle; incorporating the process of obtaining returns and feedback from local managers and obtaining review sign off from senior managers.
  • Develop and manage standard pricing models.
  • Prepare financial model / financial analysis to support new business activities.
  • Obtain a clear understanding of tender processes and the requirements for pricing in bid documents.
  • Assist with the preparation of records for the audit of Statutory Accounts and provide support to the finance team.
  • Assist with contract performance negotiations / reconciliations.
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts.

The key skills and experience you will need for this role:

  • A part qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA, ACA) with a minimum of 18 months' experience in a Financial role or qualified by experience to an equivalent level.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate complex and often contentious financial issues effectively with both non-finance and finance staff on a one to one basis or in large groups.
  • Ability to develop complex financial data and reports into a format which can be easily understood by all levels and professions.
  • An ability to advise and listen to budget holders and other senior managers and to develop reports, analysis and advice relevant to them.
  • Ability to build relationships through high quality network skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work closely and effectively with staff at all levels within the organisation.
  • Excellent persuasion and negotiation skills are required to ensure delivery of balanced financial plans.
  • Must be able to use Excel spreadsheets and a financial ledger system to an advanced, expert level. Complex spreadsheet applications may frequently be developed on behalf of other users.
  • Should also be familiar and competent with Word and Access databases and have reasonable keyboard skills.
  • Experience in staff recruitment, contingency planning and disciplinary would be desirable

The salary being offered for this role is GBP35-GBP37k + Study Support, along with 25 days holiday, company pension, a retail discount card and other additional benefits.
