ESSENTIAL:

Educated to Degree level (or equivalent qualification/experience)

Plus significant specialist experience

Qualification or equivalent experience demonstrating proficiency of MS Office Applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel & Outlook).

Willingness to undertake professional development opportunities, as determined by the Assurance and Audit Manager

Experience of working in an assurance, audit or compliance role.

Knowledge of project management practices, tools and techniques.

Knowledge of assurance, audit and governance principles.

DESIRABLE:

Recognised accountancy or internal audit qualification (CCAB, CIMA or Chartered Institute of Internal Auditors)

Relevant business analysis or technical/informatics qualification.

Recognised qualification in management studies.

Experience of operating and delivering large scale complex projects in the public sector.

Ability to use best practice' in all aspects of project management, with focus on practical results rather than process

Knowledge of public sector commercial and procurement processes

Knowledge of information systems.

Knowledge of NHS Financial Accounting.

Public Sector Resourcing is currently recruiting for a number of Auditors for our client NHS in Nottingham Controller on 4 month contracts

Job purpose:

The Senior Internal Auditor role will report to the Assurance and Audit Manager/Head of Assurance and Audit, and will support the manager working with business leads, project boards and external stakeholders, facilitating delivery of value and savings and ensuring that assurance and audit programmes are put in place and delivered across all of our contracts.

In this role, you are accountable for:

Key activities and decision making areas

1. Support the development of the risk/assurance programme across all contracts, identifying risks and facilitating solutions that deliver improvements at a high level.

2. Perform with limited or no supervision, in accordance with business needs/requirements of the Assurance and Audit Manager, the full range of audits in the assurance and audit programme, rotating across audit areas as appropriate.

3. Undertake work as part of the wider assurance programme, including but not limited to, information governance, risk registers, and risk reporting.

4. Report results and level of assurance as agreed with the Assurance and Audit Manager, senior team and other key stakeholders.

5. Help maintain the assurance and audit programme and associated methodologies, to provide operational insight to drive continuous improvement across the business.

6. Work in accordance with the assurance and audit programme, aligning this to SCCL strategy and vision.

7. Inform the Assurance and Audit Manager of opportunities with new and existing clients.

8. Ensure that stakeholder relationships are managed to the highest standards.

9. Investigate all saving streams to identify gaps and fully exploit savings potential.

10. Engage in challenging discussions to achieve collective objectives particularly where there are barriers to understanding or acceptance by using tact, diplomacy and persuasion to gain stakeholders support.

11. Analyse and assess project and work stream performance, analysing data to inform changes.

12. Actively manage the internal and external linkages and inter-dependencies related to savings (eg political or legislative change, structural or organisational plans etc) across programmes and/or projects, and incorporating any changes into the project/programme plan.

13. Help to define, develop and maintain the savings methodology and Critical Success Factors for the delivery of savings, where appropriate.

14. Monitor/provide stock, process, and capital assurance to improve effectiveness across the audit function.

15. Contribute to the on-going development of programme policies and procedures.

16. Manage own performance, and professional development; and undertake regular 1:1 meetings and annual appraisals with the Assurance and Audit Manager.
