Site Manager - North (Mead)
The Woodland Trust is the UK’s leading woodland conservation charity. We want to see a UK rich in native woods and trees, for people and wildlife. The Trust aims to engage and inspire people about woods and trees to help us meet our vision of creating, restoring and protecting woodland.
This role will manage a diverse portfolio of woods, with a focus on a significant new 162 hectare woodland creation site located on the Nottinghamshire-Derbyshire border, where we will create new woodland, species rich grassland, wetlands, a range of other habitats as well as substantial engagement possibilities.
The Site Manager will be responsible for creative woodland management and grazing projects, engaging supporters and influencing others to act. At Mead, the Site Manager will work closely with a Youth Development Manager to help engage a wide spectrum of local young people and provide them with the opportunity to have a rewarding and long-term connection to the site; contributing to the landscape set within their communities
With previous experience in land-based management in the forestry or conservation sector, you’ll have a strong track record of project, budget and contract management, successful partnership working and Health and Safety management.
You will have excellent communication skills, be commercially aware and able to build effective partnerships. A full driving licence is a must have, along with the ability to undertake travel across a wide area, sometimes to remote locations. Occasional overnight stays will be required and you’ll be expected to live within a reasonable travel distance of the management area.
WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT
There’s no other organisation like the Woodland Trust. Whatever you do here you will be supporting our work to protect and enhance woods and trees. In return, we recognise and value our people. You'll have our full support, training and opportunities for professional development, along with contributory pension, life assurance and good holiday entitlement.
