Youth Development Manager
The Woodland Trust is the UK’s leading woodland conservation charity. We want to see a UK rich in native woods and trees, for people and wildlife. The Trust aims to engage and inspire people about woods and trees to help us meet our vision of creating, restoring and protecting woodland.
This role will lead the youth engagement activity at our new woodland creation site, Mead - a 162 hectare site, adjoining Shipley Country Park in Derbyshire. The Youth Development Manager will work as part of a cross-departmental team of project specialists, woodland conservation advisors, youth engagement and fundraisers, ensuring that young people have a voice, can contribute to the project and have a genuine involvement in the development and activity at Mead. The role will engage a wide spectrum of local young people and provide them with the opportunity to have a rewarding and long-term connection; contributing to their landscape, set within their communities.
With previous experience of developing and running high quality people engagement projects or a visitor based property, you’ll have a strong track record of delivering projects and managing budgets, frequently exceeding expoectations. You’ll need experience of working in consultation with communiities and leading and managing volunteers.
You will have excellent interpersonal skills, able to communicate with and influence diverse groups of stakeholders.This is a pivotal role in making this project a reality, so you’ll need to be energetic and motivated with a real desire to engage young people and fundraisers to contribute.
