Full-time, 35 hours per week

The Royal Yachting Association (RYA), based in Hamble, near Southampton, is the national governing body for all forms of recreational, competitive and professional boating. It represents dinghy and yacht racing, motor and sail cruising, RIBs and sportsboats, powerboat racing, windsurfing, inland cruising and personal watercraft. 

The RYA’s website receives approx. 250,000 visitors to its website each month and has 180+ users of its internal systems, which include Microsoft technologies. We are looking to appoint a Web Developer, with a primary focus on Microsoft SharePoint development, to help build, enhance and maintain these systems. 

As the successful candidate, you would join the RYA’s in-house Web Development team who are responsible for ensuring the RYA provides an effective web service to its members, employees, the general public, affiliated organisations and associated supporting bodies. As a Web Developer you would be required to ensure the RYA is up to date with the latest web technologies and play a key role in the full web development life-cycle (briefing, design, coding, testing, deployment and post-production support).

The ideal candidate will:

+ Have strong, proven skills, experience and knowledge of Microsoft SharePoint development (with any version dated from 2007 to 2016)
+ Have experience with C#, .NET, SQL server and Javascript
+ Have had exposure to using APIs and REST/WCP Web Services
+ Be a good team player, who can communicate effectively with colleagues at all levels
+ Be self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and manage your own time effectively
