Location: Northampton

Salary: GBP25-28,000 DOE

Hours: 8.30am - 5.30pm Monday - Friday.

Key Skills:-

  • Knowledge of the Energy Industry (essential)
  • High excel skills
  • Financial background ideally
  • Ideally they will have CIPS but would be willing to train.

The Job Role:

Our client is a specialist provider of energy solution services, working with clients to develop smarter ways to manage energy consumption and create effective solutions tailored to their organisation.

We are looking for a candidate who can Tender contracts from start to finish, negotiate on contracts, liaise with suppliers, evaluate cost and is confident giving feedback to clients and customers.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • The role of Energy Contracts Buyer sits within the procurement team and reports directly into the Head of Energy Markets

  • Responsible for the day to day delivery of Fixed Price, Fixed Term tender and flexible contracting activity and ensuring the provision of high quality electricity, gas and water supply contract procurement

  • Provision of a single point of contact for suppliers relating to the fixed price, fixed term and flexible tenders procured via the team

  • The Energy Contracts Buyer will ensure that relationships with suppliers, customers and internal teams are maintained to a high level

  • Responsible for the project management and delivery of all tender activity prior to contract award

  • Ownership of the documentation that is issued by the team for the provision of the fixed price tendering service (such as procurement details sheet, post tender report, etc.)

  • Maintain a complete record of all tenders completed for audit trail purposes by logging and updating all internal systems in a timely fashion

  • Provide internal KPI reporting to the business in line with the above

The Candidate:

  • Knowledge of the Energy Industry required

  • High level of Excel skills - able to use functions such as vlookups, pivot tables, etc.

  • Experience of using database platforms desirable (MS Access)

  • Able to handle and interpret figures and calculations with accuracy

  • Good eye for detail and ability to spot erroneous data

  • Excellent organisational skills

  • Able to effectively communicate at all levels

  • Commercial awareness / Ability to recognise contractual risk

  • Strong relationship building skills

  • Ability to communicate and influence

  • Pro-active and able to prioritise effectively
