Salary: £22,756 per annum (rising to £23,954 after 2 years) + Overtime and benefits

The company is established as one of the world's most productive and technically advanced ports.

They are now the UK's premier car handling port with a current throughput of 650,000 vehicles per annum. They have achieved this position against very keen competition from other ports by concentrating on the quality of their service, delivered through a committed workforce. They intend to build on this success by strengthening their team of permanent operatives, whose principal focus is the car trade, though other duties are undertaken when requirements arise.

They are looking to expand their workforce by recruiting additional Car Trade Operatives.

Role Overview:

Principal duties will include driving motor vehicles on and off of vessels and between compounds, lashing and unlashing vehicles, marshalling drivers, and monitoring quality standards. There will also be opportunities to work on the other trades.

The basic working week will be 39 hours, which will be worked in any combination of the comprehensive range of shift patterns which operate at the Port, and which are varied from time to time in order to meet changing requirements. These shifts operate over 24 hours per day and seven days per week, orders for which are frequently made at short notice.

The Candidate:

Specialising in driving import and export vehicles for their motor vehicle trade, you will be of smart appearance, enthusiastic, physically fit and, above all, able to demonstrate a highly developed awareness of their customers' quality requirements.

In particular, you must be able to project a positive, helpful approach with which customers will feel comfortable.

You will be required to work overtime and must be able to commit to a fully flexible shift system which operates over 7 days per week.

You will have a full clean driving licence and at least 2 years' driving experience.
