Our client is first and foremost an organisation responsible for delivering government policy on disclosure and barring functions. They are a Non-Departmental Public Body (NDPB) accountable to Parliament through the Secretary of State for the Home Office.

They play a vital role in safeguarding the most vulnerable in society through the provision of criminal record information enabling employers and voluntary organisations to make safer recruitment decisions and ultimately by barring those individuals considered to pose a significant risk in specific workforces.

They are now looking to recruit a Security IT Architect to join them to lead their cyber security development and provide security assurance, advice and strategic support to the Change Programme in support of IT/Cyber Strategy and system security delivery.

Reporting to the Head of Security within the Information Directorate, you will assist with the on-going development and implementation of the Cyber Security Strategy, Data Loss Prevention Strategy and information security management approach initially by taking the lead on the on-boarding to Home Office Security Operating Centre. 

Keeping abreast of the latest technologies and thinking within the Cyber arena, you will provide advice to project teams regarding security controls and review technical designs to ensure designs meet cyber and information assurance requirements; leading coaching and mentoring individual members of staff and providing guidance on effective development strategies in the fast moving world of cyber security.  You must also support the accreditation authority in the scoping and remediation of ITHC vulnerabilities and the recording and acceptance of residual risk.

Candidates for this role must hold a substantial range of cyber and information security expertise at an organisational level and on Government projects from strategy to implementation.  With business process reengineering experience (including System Development Life Cycle approaches) and the ability to use Enterprise Architecture tools and approaches to model business processes and functions, you should have experience of PRINCE2, KANBAN or other approaches in the AGILE manifesto and be educated to degree level. 

A Certified Information Security Professional or equivalent, candidates should have excellent technical/security knowledge with a grasp of the technologies used to deliver cloud and digital web based services and in particular the security controls needed to protect the data and services, including DLP.  A strong understanding of the Data Protection Act 2018 and the EU General Data Protection Regulations in respect of the security requirements to protect citizen data is also essential for the role.
