What it’s about
The Head of Market and Customer Insight role is a key position at Cambridge English. Leading a small team of analysts and insight managers, and drawing on your experience of market research, customer analysis and competitor monitoring, you’ll help us make informed decisions about our product, sector and competitor strategies.
This is an exciting role with an international remit, and as Head of Market and Customer Insight you’ll be working closely with colleagues in Cambridge and around our global network to build our understanding of changing market, customer and competitor dynamics.
What you’ll be doing
1. Provide strategic leadership to the Market and Customer Insight team
- Develop strong relationships with staff in Cambridge and globally to understand the organisation’s market and customer insight needs
- Agree priorities for market research in conjunction with stakeholders around the organisation, and set the agenda for the work of the team
2. Develop and implement our strategy for gathering, analysing and sharing market and customer insight
- Ensure insight is disseminated effectively across the organisation
- Ensure the effectiveness of projects is evaluated systematically and project outcomes feed into business decisions
- Provide market and customer insight and policy recommendations to the senior leadership team
- Lead on the production of regular and ad-hoc reports/updates on competitor activity, market environment changes and customer data
- Manage our approach to customer and partner surveys, ensuring that we are reaching the audiences we need to hear from and the data we gather is interpreted and shared, with recommendations for the organisation
3. Ensure the effective use of the market research budget
- Lead the process of gathering and prioritising market research requirements from around the organisation
- Develop and maintain relationships with market and customer insight service providers
- Provide professional expert guidance and input to ensure projects are appropriately defined and objectives are met
What we’re looking for
Qualifications
- First degree (essential)
- Relevant post graduate qualification (desirable)
Skills
- Advanced interpersonal skills, including ability to both listen and influence
- Must have the ability to deal confidently with a range of internal stakeholders, including senior management
- Excellent communication skills, including presentation skills
- An analytical mind which can process information from a variety of sources and translate it into rational reports and recommendations
- Demonstrable relationship building skills
Experience
- Previous experience in a market research or policy analysis environment
- Experience of working in a commercial context
- Experience of working in an international context
- Experience of working with senior level stakeholders
- Project management experience
- Staff management experience
- A knowledge of the global education sector is desirable, an interest in it is essential
