Key responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- managing the evolution of the Certification criteria;
- ensuring that we maintain a high bar in order to promote excellence in operations practices through Certification. This will involve thought leadership in key areas covered by the Certification, including AML/CFT, risk management, channel security and consumer protection;
- managing the Certification Working Group, which involves Heads of Compliance and Risk from leading mobile money providers globally and engage with technical experts externally;
- capturing learnings from the first wave of celebrations and ensuring that these are leveraged to strengthen the Certification Initiative;
- managing relationships with the Certification Scheme Operator Alliances Managements and working closely with them to ensure that the policies and processes around the Certification are smooth and effective;
- coordinating a cross-functional team within the GSMA across Advocacy and Regulation, Marketing and Legal with support from a Project Manager to ensure the effective management of the Certification initiative across all key aspects; and
- shaping and managing the next phase of GSMA Mobile Money activities in the area of fraud and risk.
Criteria for selection
The candidate must possess the following attributes:
- have experience as mobile money specialist with an expertise and reputation that is widely recognized among peers;
- have strong technical knowledge, including in areas relating to Mobile Money Certification, AML or CFT, risk management, channel security and consumer protection;
- have a background that includes substantial experience within the private sector, for example within a mobile operator, a bank, a payments company or a leading consultancy;
- have experience of working in an emerging market, specifically Africa and South Asia;
- have experience working with and managing cross-functional teams;
- have experience managing external stakeholders, including aligning stakeholders with diverse views and conflicting interests; and
- be methodical and organized with a strong ability to deliver within timelines and work under pressure.
