About the role:

This is an exciting opportunity to continue to work towards making Luton more dementia-friendly. The role includes consulting people affected by dementia on their priorities and promoting better understanding of dementia across communities. In creating more dementia-friendly communities we aim to promote independence for people living with dementia.

About you:

As Dementia Friendly Communities Coordinator for Luton, you will work with the established steering group to enable them to persuade more businesses, organisations and individuals to support the Dementia Friendly Community, with a focus on hard to reach communities.

You'll use the fantastic tools available, like the Dementia-friendly business guide to convince organisations of the benefits of making small changes that will help people affected by dementia. You will work closely with the Chair to increase the sustainability of the group itself, supporting everyone to play their part.

You'll be a good communicator, equally happy to talk 1-1 over coffee, with community leaders, business owners and people affected by dementia, or to present to a meeting, and you'll be excited by finding people who want to make change in their communities. You'll be organised and passionate about engaging businesses, civic and community organisations, local groups, health and social care providers with their local dementia-friendly community. You will be equally comfortable with technology, providing website updates, reports and presentations to help keep things on track.
Alzheimer's Society is committed to equal opportunities.
