Assistant Shop Manager

Octavia Housing is a not for profit organisation that provides thousands of people with affordable homes. Octavia works hard to generate funds to support with housing solutions, believing that good homes make for better lives. Octavia’s fashionable charity shops are one of the ways in which it supports this housing programme.

Located in the some of the best shopping high streets in London and attracting celebrity customers and generous support from designers Octavia's charity stores are a huge success. Due to expansion Octavia is now looking for an experienced Assistant Shop Manager with a love for fashion to join them in West London on a full-time contract.   

Responsibilities of the role

  • Assisting the Store Manager in planning and implementing strategies to attract customers and drive sales
  • Coordinating the daily customer service operations including handling of payments
  • Tracking the progress of the store and ensuring that sales targets are met
  • Monitoring stock levels in the store ensuring that  all stock is well presented at all times
  • Supervising and motivating other team members / coach and support staff
  • Monitoring the store’s operating costs ensuring cost efficiency at all times
  • Assisting customers with any needs or requests / enquiries
  • Maintaining excellent relationships with customers
  • Attracting new customers to the store
  • Researching current and upcoming trends / updating merchandise
  • Acting as a representative of the Octavia brand

Requirements for the role

  • A passion for fashion and upcoming trends
  • Proven previous experience in a customer / sales / retail-based environment
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • Excellent interpersonal, organisational and analytical skills
  • A strong eye for attention to detail
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Creativity and an innovative approach to sales
  • A reliable, responsible and respectful attitude
  • Excellent work ethic
