Job Description An established house builder are looking to recruit a Quantity Surveyor to work from their office in Sevenoaks, Kent

The role:
Reporting to the Commercial Manager with management responsibility for the financial performance of house building projects and improving the operating margin and adding value to projects.

Key Responsibilities of a Quantity Surveyor:

Supervise, manage and advise on the Financial and Contractual Aspects of multiple projects
Attend design team meetings/development meetings and contract pre-start/subcontract package review meetings.
Liaise with Development Surveyors to establish requirements for pre-contract expenditure and strategic procurement.
Receive initial tender information and prepare and update procurement programmes.
Agree selection of Subcontractors for works packages. Approve competency of Subcontractors for inclusion on the Subcontractor's Approved List.
Maintain and review approved list of Subcontractors in accordance with the Departmental procedures.
Monitor production of information and advise financial feasibility of design development.
Prepare subcontract tender documentation, analyse tender returns and make recommendations on subcontractor selection.
Prepare tender evaluations, A1 and C6 accounts forms for approval / signing by authorised signatory.
Attend subcontract pre-order meetings and agree post tender variations and matters affecting tender sum.
Prepare/monitors subcontract documentation and warranties for eventual engrossment by parties to the contract.
Prepare and agree initial preliminaries costings with Construction Director and monitors expenditure.
Liaise with contract buyer to determine allowances within budget for the direct procurement of materials and monitor material purchasing costs and incorporate in contract financial reports.
Attend site meetings, project team meetings and subcontract meetings during currency of contract.
Prepare and submit notices and applications for Client / Agent for Extension of Time claims.
Ensure Subcontractors are prequalified with respect to H and S and that all H and S documentation is in place prior to starting on site.
Keep RAMS schedule updated and issue to relevant parties.

They are a developer who provide private and affordable housing, and operate across the South East and surrounding areas. They specialise in new build private housing sites for sale.

The Person:
It is likely you will have previously worked as either a Quantity Surveyor,Senior Quantity Surveyor,Managing Quantity Surveyor,QS or Commercial Manager in a similar house building environment.
Experience in housing is essential.

Desirable criteria:
Passionate about construction, house building and customer service.
Wide knowledge of Construction Industry processes and procedures.
Understanding of methods of measurement, standard forms of contract and reporting procedures, preparation of contractual claims.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Excellent knowledge of ICT and Software systems.
Qualified in Quantity Surveying or equivalent.
