Head of Underwriting, Product and Pricing - Specialist Property

The Ardonagh Group's retail segment comprising of Direct Group and Towergate Retail is looking for a Head of Underwriting, Product and Pricing to join its Specialist Property Schemes and Programmes team - this role is to be a key part of the team's growth as supported by the Executive Team. You will be responsible for the performance of the portfolio looking at both loss ratio and customer conversion and retention figures, as well as being an integral part of the strategic steering of the teams involved. Working in a department with over 160 people across various locations, this has been identified as a growth area for the Group and perfect for someone with realistic and ambitious career prospects. * Responsible for delivery of Target COR agreed with our Insurer partners, taking remedial action when required and agree Underwriting Bridge/ Rating/ Pricing and terms with Insurers * Accountable for performance of your team and individual team members ensuring that objectives are aligned, performance metrics are set, communicated and reviewed and that individual performance reviews are carried out * Accountable for meeting all required service levels across the business unit. * Responsible for the annual budget planning and strategy review centered around Underwriting and Products * Accountable for the short, medium and long-term placement strategy of the business unit including new products and new markets * Achieve quality assurance targets and where required develop and deliver action plan to address short comings * To form an integral part of the senior leadership team working alongside other key stakeholders participating in regular review of activities, targets, performance and new initiatives. * Responsible for the annual budget planning and strategy review centered around Underwriting and Products * Accountable for the short, medium and long-term placement strategy of the business unit including new products and new markets * Maintain an effective working relationship with all other senior leaders to ensure that there is effective co-ordination of all company activities in support of corporate objectives * To have overall ownership and accountability of insurer performance for all product lines, engaging with the underwriting team and insurers to maintain competitive advantages and optimum commercial performance * Help deliver commercial momentum Skills and Experience: Demonstrated in career so far: * Pricing knowledge * Product development * Direct experience of controls and procedures * Delivery of agreed loss ratios / underwriting profitably * Experience of managing the performance of a book of business Personality: * Intellect, approachability and personality to influence and gain credibility internally and with our insurer partners * Leadership skills to influence our direction, decisions and execution * A natural innovator, bringing ideas to drive growth * The ability to drive continuous improvement to ensure that we're meeting the needs of our customers and our capacity providers * ACII qualified - Desirable
