Description

As a Project Manager at HS2 your key role will be to focus on the successful delivery of assigned project sections through the management of the client, the supply chain and other internal and external stakeholders.

This role will aid in the design, vision and strategy for the delivery for the infrastructure programme and ensure delivery according to time, cost, quality, safety & environmental specifications.

About the role:

  • Manage a broad programme strategy, procurement, development through to delivery and handover by setting individual objectives, reviewing performance/appraisals and providing on-going feedback on a formal & informal basis so that all project managers are aware of what they are required to achieve
  • Set, agree and control budgets for specific projects, and agree escalation points, key milestones, and time, cost quality and safety targets to ensure that objectives are achieved in line with programme plans
  • Within agreed authority levels, negotiate, procure and authorize all major project contracts and variations and approve and authorize all payment to meet value for money criteria
  • Take an operational lead on interfaces with all external and internal stakeholders relating to project areas/disciplines managed
  • Report project progress (including progress reports and papers) to the Contract Board, Programme Board, and other similar Boards as required
  • Provide direct input to communications, press and media for internal and external stakeholders by collaborating with the Communications Directorate
  • Support the development and procurement of large contracts from inception through to contract award, including the assimilation of Works Information, drafting contract requirements and supporting PQQ and ITT processes


Qualifications

About You:

  • Project management skills gained across a range of projects
  • Ability to engage with, influence, and manage internal and external stakeholders
  • Effective organisation skills and the ability to meet deadlines
  • Experience of project management techniques and knowledge of their implementation in a commercial environment, in particular change management processes
  • Experience of project management in a rail systems environment
  • Experience of working on a multi-disciplinary project.
