My client are a leading designer and manufacturer of specialist machinery based near to Cambridge

With an impressive track record of producing innovative and high-quality products, they are well regarded in their sector and as such, are an employer of choice for engineers across the region. Due to continued development of new products, and a strong pipeline of projects currently being discussed, they are in need of a talented and diligent Laboratory/Prototype Technician to join their business until the end of the year.

As part of a multi-disciplinary team, and a modern engineering department, this role involves the building and assembly mechanical components for testing and prototyping, as well for use in full production. Training will be given to the successful candidate, as their machines are quite niche, so an expectation on a basic level of engineering knowledge is essential. Enhanced or laboratory based experienced within in an R&D environment would be wholly beneficial.

Ideally you will have proven and demonstrable experience in the various facets of machinery and product assembly and be available to start with my client immediately. A solid qualification in mechanical engineering is preferred (HND/Degree), along with knowledge of pneumatics, automation or special purpose machinery as a minimum would be my clients first choice.. A background in practical engineering is preferred, so some experience of working in a manufacturing or vocational (apprenticeship) would be of interest as the expectation is that you will be working closely with engineers on the shopfloor to when required. Some basic experience within a test or laboratory environment would be beneficial, but not essential.

This is a temporary role, with the minimum term expected to be until the end of 2018, so this may well suit someone looking for further experience away from a full time permanent position. Hours of work are Monday - Friday days
