If you love working with a mixture of old and historic properties as well as contemporary, this organisation can provide that challenge and would love to hear from you!

This post is based within their School and Abbey. The School is an independent, co-educational boarding and day school for pupils aged 11 to 18, and one of England's oldest and most distinguished Catholic schools. The Abbey is a Benedictine monastery and home to a community of monks. They are situated at the foot of the Mendip Hills, twelve miles south of the city of Bath.

This is an exceptional and rare opportunity to have a real impact on the direction and development of Building Services within the Monastery and the School, providing strategic and operational direction, leadership, innovation and a high level of customer service and best practice. You will have strong commercial experience with a demonstrable track record of project and stakeholder management to a high standard as well as relevant professional qualifications.

Reporting to the Bursar, the Head of Building and Engineering will provide expertise in the stewardship of heritage estates and listed buildings, planning & development, as well as maintenance, grounds and contract management (internal and external). The department consists of 14 staff including plumbers, electricians, labourers and a team administrator.

This organisation is currently in the process of an exciting period of change involving separating the two parts of the organisation (Abbey and School) into two independent Trusts. This will provide great opportunities to support the future development of both organisations going forward. Further information will be provided at interview.

It is essential that the successful candidate possesses excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work successfully with a diverse range of stakeholders.

Salary is dependent on qualifications and experience.
