Job Title: Operational Purchaser

Location: Castleford, WF10 5QH

Salary: £25,000 - £32,000 dependent on experience, skills and qualifications

There's now an opportunity for an Operational Purchaser to join their team.

This position will work with other functions such as Quality Control, Production, Sales and Strategic Purchasing to ensure availability of all required parts at the right time in the right quantity.

The post holder will be responsible for:

  • The operational purchasing of all required parts, materials and consumables
  • Maintaining the purchasing relevant data in cooperation with the Strategic Purchaser
  • Running MRP and forecasting
  • Reacting to changes in demand
  • Monitoring and ensuring timely delivery of required goods
  • Monitoring the delivery performance of suppliers
  • Liaising with suppliers
  • Working intensively with other departments such as Production, Quality Control and Warehouse to ensure that the goods reach the required position at the right time
  • Ensuring that the systems are ready to pass an external audit at any given time in any of the operational areas and is being followed. Be responsible that relevant internal audits are carried out and action
  • Writing and maintaining procedures to perform all tasks in the zone of influence
  • Negotiating price breaks and terms in liaison with the Strategic Purchaser
  • Monitoring stock levels and dealing with depreciated stock
  • Reacting to changes in demand

The successful Candidate will have/ be:

  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent in logistics or Purchasing (MCIPS)
  • A Proven track record in running an ERP system (preferably but not necessarily Navision or Exapta)
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • High attention to detail
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong Microsoft skills and a pleasant but firm personality would round the requirements of.
