The Company 

Established in 2006, our client is a publisher of high-quality visitor guides for cities and regions across the UK and Ireland. As part of exciting growth plans, they are now looking for a Publishing Assistant to join their dedicated team in Gateshead.

Joining a friendly publishing office, you will have the chance to increase your skill-set and gain a first-hand understanding of how the industry works. 

You’ll have the chance to take on responsibility right from the outset, play a key role in the publishing process and build your professional experience, working as part of a supportive team. 

Every team member gets a generous 30 days’ holiday a year (not including Bank Holidays). This includes a two week shutdown period at Christmas, giving you the chance to relax and recharge. 

The Role 

As a Publishing Assistant, you’ll provide support to our client’s print and digital production function. 

Reporting to the Editorial Director & Head of Design, you’ll accurately publish content across a range of digital and print channels. 

Your duties will include: 

- Publishing visitor guides via WordPress 
- Creating and publishing internally-generated and commissioned content 
- Helping to generate social media posts 
- Researching and optimising images 
- SEO input to improve audience and visibility of digital channels 
- Performing copyright management administration 

About You 

To be considered as a Publishing Assistant, you’ll need: 

- An interest in media and publishing 
- A degree level qualification in a media-related discipline 
- Proficiency in using Apple Macs 
- An enthusiastic and flexible approach 
- The ability to work well individually and as part of a team 

Our client would like to hear from you if you are a graduate in Media, Media Studies, Creative Writing, English Literature, Journalism or similar. 

Other companies may call this role Graduate Publishing Assistant, Production Assistant, Publishing Administrator or Graduate Media Assistant. 

Please note, the working hours for this role are Monday – Friday, 9:00 – 16:45.
