Our leading timber engineering specialist client is seeking a Design Team Leader to oversee their renowned team of timber engineering experts. As a Design Team Leader you will have experience of leading and developing a team along with knowledge of timber engineered products. Our client’s products include Roof Trusses, Spandrel Panels, I-Joists, Metal Web Joists, Floor Cassettes and Roof Cassettes. Our client uses the very latest manufacturing processes and equipment, integrated supply chains and strong environmental credentials.

You will have strong leadership skills and product knowledge to develop this friendly team within a growing company.

Key Design Team Leader Responsibilities:


  • Resource management (Lead, motivate, communicate, develop, performance manage)
  • Review, evaluate, prioritise and manage workloads
  • Review, manage and develop the team outputs covering accuracy, efficiency, quality and compliance with regulatory and other standards
  • Use of management information and key performance indicators to monitor and report on the effectiveness of the team
  • Budgetary compliance
  • Maintain a high level of Customer Service
  • Provide support & training to internal and external customers
  • Applying appropriate processes and work practices
  • Maintain & manage the use of internal systems
  • Liaise with commercial, sales and operational teams to service the required sales demand
  • Conduct regular review meetings with the estimating and design team in relation to performance, business needs and improvements, and appropriately appraise management of outcomes
  • Prepare accurate designs, schedules and quotations for submission to customers


Key Design Team Leader Skills:


  • Has an ability to plan and apply logic with a flexible approach and outlook
  • Comfortable with detail and complex situations, can evaluate a situation or process and contribute to or create outright solutions
  • An understanding of the design process, methodology and tools associated with core products
  • Ability to build trust with customers by putting their needs first and exceeding their expectations
  • Implementation of initiatives to improve delivery of customer service
  • Ability to motivate team and take ownership and responsibility
  • Communicate with authority and ability to negotiate with and influence others
