REPORTS TO: Senior Civil & Family Clerk

PURPOSE OF THE JOB:  To assist in providing our clients with a first-class service by maintaining high standards.

KEY TASKS WILL INCLUDE:

Opening the general post each morning.

General photocopying duties: 

Making copies of articles, cases and sometimes entire Briefs when requested to do so by either the Clerks or Barristers.

Scanning Briefs to Counsel. Printing Briefs for Counsel, received via email.

Assisting with compiling bundles to send to the court when required.

Preparing tea and coffee for Conferences, where required.

Delivering urgent papers by hand to Solicitors’ offices, where required.

Operating the Justis Database in order to retrieve authorities for Barristers if the need arises.

Obtaining books required by Barristers.

On a daily basis ensuring that papers too large to go into Counsel’s trays are delivered to their rooms.

The booking-on of instructions and correspondence to the Chambers system, ensuring that all relevant details are completed when booking on these instructions.

Assistance with the setting out of our Seminar Suite for seminars and other functions:  This requires moving tables and chairs to and from rooms to ensure the room is arranged in line with Chambers’ requirements.

Skills / Experience Required

  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal).
  • Good numerical skills
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills
  • Proficient in IT
  • Previous work experience is desirable, in particular experience involving managing different tasks and working in teams
  • Previous office administration work experience is also desirable
