Our client is a large unitary local authority in the North West of England employing over 3,000 people and delivering around 500 services to residents and businesses.
We are looking for a communications professional to support a range of marketing, PR and public engagement projects, including digital and social media.
Our client's brand promise conveys both their ambition as an organisation and how they will operate, both in terms of connectedness within the organisation and the importance of working with other organisations, communities and individuals to deliver their priorities at a range of scales.
The post holder will work under the direction of a senior communications officer.
Work will include creating and commissioning wide range of content including: copywriting, social media planning and posting, email newsletter production, event support, video (filming and editing), photography, commissioning design, print etc.
Job Description:
* Develop and implement cost-effective, creative, audience-specific communications plans and products, that promote the company and that support the company's business objectives, using a wide range of digital and traditional channels.
* Commission cost-effective, creative, audience-specific communications products from a range of internal and external providers including Media Relations Officers, Online Services Team and Creative Design and Print Framework suppliers.
* Set, monitor and evaluate SMART communications objectives for communications activity, including both output and outcome measures.
* Contribute to a co-ordinated schedule of communications activity for the company.
* Build an influential network of internal and external contacts as an enabling resource to support delivery of the company's communications objectives.
* Advise, influence and challenge colleagues and service delivery partners at all levels on their communications objectives.
* Maintain and contribute to the development of the company's corporate visual identity.
* Maintain up-to-date skills and knowledge of communications tools and technology and use them to maximise effectiveness of communications activity.
* The job holder may be required at any time to undertake any work up to and/or at a level consistent with existing responsibilities - these tasks may be at any location in Cheshire, to ensure the effective deployment of labour, materials, transport and equipment to meet daily service requirements.
Candidate Requirements:
* Degree or equivalent qualification/experience in a communications discipline
* RSA2 typing speed qualification or an equivalent level of experience
* 3 years professional experience in a marketing or PR communications role
* Excellent understanding of marketing/PR communications theories and concepts
* Project Management
* Excellent copywriting for a range of audiences and channels including media releases
* Good general IT skills (including Microsoft Office)
* Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
* Ability to work calmly in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating resilience in a pressured political environment
* Ability to manage own workload re-prioritising as necessary
* Ability to innovate
* Willingness and ability to travel throughout Cheshire
Hours: Monday to Friday (37 hours per week)
Salary: GBP13.75 per hour
