Kirkmichael Community Council is looking for a freelance Community Development Officer to help deliver projects in our community action plan.
Working on a self-employed basis, the successful applicant will join us part time for a 1 year contract.
About the village
Kirkmichael is a friendly and welcoming conservation village, situated between the picturesque greenery of the surrounding Carrick, Ayrshire and Galloway forests.
We have gained a reputation as being a social village with year-round events, including music and theatre performances, sports clubs, social gatherings and seasonal festivities.
Kirkmichael also has a community-run shop selling locally sourced produce and a local newsletter, with contribution from villagers.
Your role
- Planning and implementing projects
- Listening to the thoughts of the local community
- Evaluating resources and developing new ones
- Raising public awareness on community projects
- Encouraging participation in activities and events
- Overseeing budgets and identifying potential savings
About you
- A passion for working with small communities
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Previous experience in a community development role
- Local knowledge of Kirkmichael – desirable
- Member of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups Scheme (PVG) – desirable
