Permanent, Full Time (37 hours per week)

We are a non-profit housing association providing valued housing management services to over 5,200 tenants and 260 leaseholders all over Gloucester. We have ambitious plans to grow by developing more new homes, expanding our commercial offers and improving our tenant’s services.

We are looking for an experienced Income Collection Officer to join our team in providing an effective rents and arrears service to our tenants. You will be responsible for managing the service within your own defined patch, you will maintain regular contact with tenants in your area to collect rents and minimise arrears. Proactive in your approach, you will utilise early intervention techniques, focussing on personal contact such as home visits and phone calls, to encourage good payment behaviours and prevent accounts from going into arrears, signposting to relevant agencies if needed. Where an account does go into arrears, you will work closely with the tenant to negotiate an appropriate repayment plan and, when necessary, attend court hearings.

The ideal candidate for this role will have experience of collecting debts and as such will be able to demonstrate knowledge of relevant arrears, and ideally, social housing legislation. You will be supporting and providing advice to tenants affected by Universal Credit, therefore up to date knowledge of the welfare reform act is essential. We are looking for an excellent communicator who can confidently handle negotiating with tenants, sometimes in difficult situations.

Above all, we are looking for a compassionate, flexible individual who can approach tasks with an open mind and has a good understanding of the needs of different client groups.

Due to the nature of the role, it is essential that you are able to travel within the City and other areas as required. You do not need to have a driving licence or car, just access to public transport.

If successful you will have to take an enhanced DBS check.

If you have the required skills then we would love to hear from you. In return, we provide an excellent employee benefits package including flexible working, city centre office with free parking or free bus travel, subsidised gym membership, Social Housing Pension Scheme, up to 29 days annual leave excluding bank holidays, childcare vouchers and wellbeing package.

Closing Date: 18th November 2018
