Our Laboratory Department operates three purpose-built laboratory facilities which have a long history of providing expert advice and analytical solutions to a wide range of industrial and service sectors including: pathology & biological, occupational hygiene & environmental & trace organics. Our laboratories enjoy an international reputation for solving complex and novel analytical problems in unusual matrices.
Position: Laboratory Analyst
Location - Manchester
Type: Permanent
Overview of role:
Laboratory analyst required to work in the metals section/wet chemistry section using ICP, AA, Mercury Analyser, and spectrophotometry.
Key Responsibilities:
* Organising workload to ensure samples are reported in agreed timescales
* Preparation of air samples using a variety of extraction techniques.
* Analysis of samples by ICP, AA, Mercury Analyser ensuring all quality requirements are met in line with laboratory procedures
* Maintain equipment and carry out basic trouble shooting
* Ensure laboratory records are kept accurate and up to date
* Maintain stock levels
Experience/Skills:
* BSc in Science or equivalent
* Experience of working within a laboratory environment
* Experience of sample preparation and use analytical instrumentation.
* Maintenance and troubleshooting skills
* Used to working in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment
